Tehran Monoxide is an ongoing cultural and socially- engaged art project which started in Tehran in 2011. It started off as a series of independent projects and collaborations with artists and citizens in Tehran’s public spaces, it soon became a singular project based on the theme of air pollution in Tehran metropolis. The project’s goal is to raise awareness on and offer practical solutions to the problem of air pollution in Tehran. It reflects the viewpoints of people from all walks of life, from children to adults in terms of the issue of air pollution. Since 2011, Tehran Monoxide has run six projects in public spaces, focusing on two aspects; first, children and teenagers in Tehran, who contribute the least to the city’s air pollution and are harmed the most by it. The second aspect is highlighting the importance of collaborative social efforts and public engagement in addressing the issue of plants and green spaces
