Susan A. Zadeh was born in Iran in 1962 but moved to France as a child, and then to Holland as a teenager. Susan originally trained in classical dance and after a 12-year career at the Dutch National Ballet in Amsterdam, she turned to photography. Zadeh has published photography books and magazines and worked as a curator. She has dedicated herself to international contemporary photography for nearly two decades.
Zadeh became well-known through her pioneering art magazine Eyemazing which received a coveted Lucie Award. At present she is concentrating on her own work as an artist. Nazraeli Press published Zadeh’s first monograph, Drowned in a Dream to much critical acclaim in the Spring of 2019, and announced I in the summer of 2019, her first contribution to Nazraeli’s One Picture Book Two series. Consisting of self-portraits, it is an intimate surreal take on the timeless approach to image making. Zadeh lives and works in Amsterdam.
